NW Montana’s legacy of mining is reflected throughout it’s many communities & small towns. At Rimrock Lodge our main building decor honors the legacy of the hard working men, women, and children who worked the mines of our area starting in 1873. The history of mining reflects a pattern of bust & boom that helped shape the character of the rugged people who call this area home. Mining is done on a much smaller scale today in our area. 227 mines are still listed for Sanders County MT. However, many of these are small, individually owned claims.
